Hello everyone, and welcome to “Horsin’ Around”, a bi-monthly article that brings you the latest news in and around the dA Equine Community! I’d be grateful if you could give me feedback on what you think of it, and if you have any suggestions for future issues, I’d love to hear them. If you think that you, or anyone else you know, deserves a feature, let me know and I’ll feature them here! I hope you enjoy this issue, and thanks for reading!

Featured Digital Equine Artist</u> Golden Frank Award by MichelleWalker

I’ve had a lot of suggestions for this wonderful artist to be featured in H.A. as an underappreciated artist, but I think she has clearly established herself as an amazing, popular and talented member of the community! She therefore deserves to be the Featured Digital Equine Artist in this issue. Malin is fairly new to dA, so in case you haven’t met her yet, stop by her page to say hi! :la:

An Interview With... </u>:phonecall:

Every issue of H.A, I will be interviewing one of your favourite equine artists! This issue, it is :iconabosz007: who has been a loved member of our community since 2007, and in that time has been established as a popular and talented artist. Cursey is best known for the enormous range of characters in their various herds, but the two stallions, Pirate and Lyo, steal the show! :giggle: Always friendly and welcoming, Cursey has a brilliant personality and a style that is an inspiration to many. If by some small chance you haven’t already seen Cursey's artwork, what are ya waiting for?!
Forever and always by abosz007 Together again by abosz007 Sassbarell by abosz007

:bulletyellow: Hello and thank you for joining us! Could you tell us a little about yourself?
HHHHAAAAAI :la: My name is Tyler Szabó (or Cursed Pirate?)...I am 18 years OLD and live in the beautiful city Wien, in Austria x333 I go to a graphic school where I can draw my horses all the time :XD: Yah even in the lessons, when teachers are not watchin’ of course! ;p

:bulletblue: Cool. How long have you been drawing horses for?
Since I am 7...or 6. I dunno. My friend drew one and I just tried if I can do also...since then it came over me like a hurricane XDDD

:bulletpink: Wow, really? Can you tell us why you enjoy drawing them so much?
Seriously I have NO idea O_o. Sure they are elegant...beautiful and powerful beings, but I have no idea why I don’t draw big cats or...other wonderful animals. Horses simply rock

:bulletyellow: Do you have a particular way of drawing horses?
Head first..?! but I do it like its shown on the Spirit DVD ^^

:bulletblue: Interesting. Can you share with us what your very favourite piece in your gallery is?
everything comes to an end by abosz007
Its definitely not my "best" piece if I look at the colouring or the anatomy...but I really like the calm feeling in the picture and the "comfort" also emotion X’D Also because it shows two of my dearest characters and one of my main characters. XD Aaaalso because its kind of a..."dramatic" meaning behind the picture...I like drama.

:bulletpink: Looks amazing!  Do you have an OC (original character)? Can you tell us a little about him/her?
the Boys are back in Town by abosz007
Sure *.* But I have 2 main OC’s. XD I cant say only one of them coz they are alllllways together :giggle: One of them is Pirate. He also used to be my equisona...he's quiet...grumpy…shy…feminine...serious...clever and sometimes evil. :D The other one is Lyo XD He blessed "some" mares on dA with his foals... Its simply his hobby to flirt and to make love :lmao: He is quick minded...brave...bright…flirty...drunk...confused...horny...powerful aaand a womanizer. But he really cares of other's feelings. It’s just the problem he loves too many horses....

:bulletyellow:  Awesome characters! Is there any particular part of equine anatomy that you find difficult to draw?
Ugh yes  Their chest! AND pregnant mares XDD

:bulletblue:  Good to know we all have trouble, then! So what would be your favourite part of drawing?
FACES :la: I love, love, LOVE to draw expressions! XD And difficult poses. ^^ It’s always interesting if it turns out embarrassing or nice.

:bulletpink: Where do you get your inspiration from?
Mmmmmmooooooooovvies! oougghh...let me watch a cool action movie with shooting around in the subway and jumping around on rooftops and the genius plans from secret agents and BOOOM! I could draw the next 72 hours XP

:bulletyellow:  Awesome! You’ve been an inspiration to a number of budding equine artists out there – can you share some tips to those just starting out?
Tips....of course there is practising… it must be boring to hear this all the time, but it’s true xD! And iscribble! Damn that’s cool. You can see how professional artists begin their drawings! You can learn a LOT! Oh and tutorials! dA has a lot ^^

:bulletblue:  Thank you for your time. Any last pieces of advice you can give to your fellow equine artists?
YUSH! Never loose the patience and keep drawing x3! If you really want something in your life...fight for it. ^^ And you should be proud of your work! x333 It’s something that YOU made out of YOUR imagination! :la: IMAGINE that. :D

Hiya, hun! It's Ponymadgal1234, this is my other account. :giggle: I was wondering if you could do me a BIG favour? You can say no, if you want too, don't feel like you have to do this. This account is a club which I set up a year ago, and we aren't really having a lot of pageviews or new members joining. I feel cheeky asking, but if it's possible, could you maybe have a link to the HoNA account? I know so many people read this, and any pageviews would help IMMENSLEY! Don't feel obliged to do it, at all, under any circumstance, because I know this is mostly for artists and things. However, if that's possible, please could you? It would help the club immensly. Thanks, hunni! ^^

Wow! I so much love reading these! I am always so excited for the next edition. :wow: And this one is great! SO many new contests, and I love the monthly themes. :aww: I hope one day to get my artwork featured in something like this, but I am not good enough yet. :(

I agree with *Crazysparkles06. There are also some equine authors out there that can write some pretty detailed and wonderful stories that inspire me to have stories behind my characters and their lives. Maybe you could include a separate section for them, too, like she said. :D I think that would be so cool. :aww: Just an idea.

Another great job, Michelle! I can't wait until the next one!

Wow! :D I sincerely love reading these! :glomp:

I noticed something though. You have bi-monthly features for photomanipulators, digital artists, traditional artists and equine photographers and even mention horse comics...but you don't have a section for equine authors. :( I know there aren't many of us, and we are easily forgotten amongst the onslaught of visual artists, but it would be nice if we could get a little love in these articles too.

Great work otherwise :D Love ya hun! :cuddle:
MichelleWalker Featured By Owner Oct 16, 2009  Hobbyist Digital Artist
I've had several suggestions about that, but I don't read fan fics online, so I don't know of any equine authors (except you!) on here. However, if you want to contribute suggestions, I'd be all ears and would happily feature them in future issues.
Crazy-Sparkles Featured By Owner Oct 19, 2009  Hobbyist General Artist
Hm. I dont know of very many equine authors off-hand myself, but I know they're out there. Maybe in the next issue, if you think it's a good idea, you could add an Equine Author section. Instead of featuring a story the first time, you could inform everyone that you will be including an Equine Author feature in the issues from now on, but that I will be handling and reviewing the submissions so they should send them to me. If they have a suggestion (which I hope they do or I am going to have to do some serious searching), they can note me with a link and title that note something along the lines of "Equine Author Feature" or something.

What do you think? It's totally up to you. I know you can count on me to handle that, but HA is your baby so you're the one that has to decide in the end.
MichelleWalker Featured By Owner Oct 21, 2009  Hobbyist Digital Artist
I will do just that! And that would be really helpful if you could handle the equine fiction... if you're up to it, of course! Thanks Sarah.
Crazy-Sparkles Featured By Owner Oct 21, 2009  Hobbyist General Artist
Yes :) I accept. I will handle the equine fiction section. Let the masses know, and I will get working on it right away :D
